Saturday Hike: Spring Blooms at Eno River

We finally made it back on the trail again this past weekend, after a long hiatus! 😊 Things have been pretty crazy during the last several months and blogging had to be put on the back burner, but it feels good to be back at long last!

หลังจากที่ห่างหายไปนาน ในที่สุดเราก็มีโอกาสได้กลับมาเดินป่ากันอีกครั้งเมื่อสุดสัปดาห์นี้เอง 😊 หลายเดือนที่ผ่านมาชีวิตวุ่นวายจนไม่มีเวลามาโพสต์ข่าวคราวให้ได้รับฟังกันบ้างเลย วันนี้ถือโอกาสได้ฤกษ์กลับมานำเสนอบรรยากาศฤดูใบไม้ผลิแถวนี้มาให้ได้ชมกัน

The main motivation was all of the spring blooms we’ve seen popping up around here during the past few weeks. Even though we had taken a break from real hikes, we still try to at least go out on walks around the neighbourhood as often as weather will allow. Recently, the flower scenes on our walks had me yearning to go check out their wildflower counterparts. 😏

ถึงแม้จะไม่ได้ไปเดินป่ามาซะนาน แต่เราก็ยังพยายามออกไปเดินออกกำลังเพื่อสูดอากาศบริสุทธิ์กันอยู่บ้างเป็นครั้งคราว ช่วงสองสามสัปดาห์มานี้ดอกไม้ใกล้แถวบ้านแข่งกันออกดอกบานสะพรั่งไปทั่ว เลยอดสงสัยไม่ได้ว่าดอกไม้ป่าจะบานสวยอย่างนี้บ้างมั้ยนะ 😏

First, a quick stop to pick up my books on hold at Athens Drive Library, which gave us a worthy preview of what’s to come! 😍

ระหว่างทางไปแวะเอาหนังสือที่ห้องสมุด ดอกไม้ที่เค้าปลูกไว้ตามทางกำลังสวยจนอดแวะถ่ายรูปไม่ได้ 😍

We picked one of our favorite trails nearby – Fews Ford Access at Eno River State Park. It was a cool spring day. We were very surprised not to see more people out on the trail! 🤨 We started off on our usual route with Buckquarter Creek trail, that led us along the beautiful Eno River. From there, we continued on to Holden Mill loop before circling back to where we started from.

เราเลือกไปกันที่ Eno River State Park เพราะจำได้ว่าเคยเห็นดอกไม้ป่าที่นี่อยู่บ้าง วันเสาร์ที่ไปอากาศกำลังเย็นสบาย แต่น่าแปลกใจที่คนไม่เยอะอย่างที่คิด 🤨 อาจจะเป็นเพราะท้องฟ้าครึ้มฝนเล็กน้อยคนเลยไม่กล้าออกจากบ้านกัน เราเริ่มต้นด้วยเส้น Buckquarter Creek แล้วจึงต่อไปยังเส้น Holden Mill ก่อนจะวนกลับมาทางเดิม

We followed the red blazes on Buckquarter Creek.

เส้น Buckquarter Creek จะมีหมุดบอกทางเป็นสีแดง

Then we switched on to the yellow blazes on Holden Mill.

มาถึงเส้น Holden Mill หมุดบอกทางกลายเป็นสีเหลือง

As expected, the wildflowers were abundant! 🥰

ดอกไม้ป่าดาษดาไปทั่วสมความคาดหมาย 🥰

My prized spotting was these wild lilies, right at their perfect prime. I was so excited to spot the first lone one, before Joel called me over to this entire bush, just a few steps away! 😆

ตอนแรกตื่นเต้นเดินไปเห็นดอกลิลลี่ป่าดอกแรกขึ้นอยู่ดอกเดียว คุณสามีเดินเลยไปอีกไม่กี่ก้าวเจอบานอยู่ทั้งกอเลย 😆

Odd tree formations and other interesting tokens along the route. 🤩

Some of the trees in the higher elevation were still mostly bare, but there was a lot of green on the ground.

ต้นไม้ส่วนใหญ่ใบยังโกร๋นอยู่ แต่เริ่มมีสีเขียวผุดมาให้เห็นอยู่ประปราย

And, mushrooms, as usual! 😆

We clocked in at almost 4 miles, which took us 2 hours, a bit slower than usual due to lack of practice. 😛

วันนั้นเดินกันไปเกือบ 4 ไมล์ หรือประมาณ 6 กิโลครึ่ง ใช้เวลาสองชั่วโมงพอดิบพอดี คราวนี้ช้ากว่าคราวก่อนๆเพราะอ่อนซ้อมมาหลายเดือน 😛

Saturday Hike: Fall Weather at Eno River

After what felt like endless months of summer, I am happy to report that Fall weather has finally arrived here in NC! 😍We took the opportunity to celebrate this long awaiting cool air with a hike at an old favorite spot – Eno River State Park.

หลังจากที่ร้อนตับแตกมานานหลายเดือนแบบที่ไม่มีวี่แววว่าจะยอมลดละ ในที่สุดเมื่อสุดสัปดาห์นี้ฤดูใบไม้ร่วงก็ได้มาเยือนที่รัฐนี้อย่างเป็นทางการ 😍 เราเลยถือโอกาสออกไปประเดิมอากาศเย็นสบายกันด้วยการเดินป่าที่ Eno River State Park หลังจากที่ไม่ได้มากันซะนาน

We took our usual route, starting with Buckquarter Creek trail at Fews Ford Access and continuing over to Holden Mill loop.

เริ่มต้นออกเดินกันที่เส้น Buckquarter Creek ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ที่ทางเข้าด้าน Fews Ford จากนั้นจึงต่อไปยังเส้นวงแหวน Holden Mill

Buckquarter Creek was marked with bright red blazes.

ตามเส้น Buckquarter Creek จะมีหมุดบอกทางเป็นสีแดง

On Holden Mill, the blazes turned yellow.

ไปถึงเส้น Holden Mill หมุดบอกทางจะกลายเป็นสีเหลือง

Eno River was nice and full, after a few decent rainstorms.

น้ำในแม่น้ำ Eno River เต็มปริ่มจากพายุฝนที่มาถล่มบริเวณนี้ติดๆกันหลายลูก

Huge mushrooms! 😳

ตามทางยังมีเห็ดยักษ์เหลือให้เห็นอยู่ประปราย

I have a feeling that the trees here were still trying to register that the weather has cooled down. 🙄 There was barely any evidence of autumn colors on the leaves. Hopefully, we will begin to see some beautiful hues emerging soon!

ต้นไม้แถวนี้ส่วนใหญ่ยังมีใบเขียวขจีเต็มต้น ยังไม่มีวี่แววว่าจะมีสีสวยๆให้ดูกันตามฤดูแต่อย่างใด 🙄 แต่หวังว่าคงจะเริ่มแปลงโฉมกันในเร็ววันนี้

This is where Holden Mill ends. We curved around and headed back towards Buckquarter Creek from here.

นี่คือสุดปลายทางของเส้นวงแหวน Holden Mill ซึ่งมีป้ายบอกไว้อย่างชัดเจน จากจุดนี้เราเดินวกกลับไปยังเส้น Buckquarter Creek แล้วจึงเดินย้อนกลับไปทางเดิมที่มา

This is the first time I noticed this sign – hard to believe how this could be true! 😱

เดินกลับมาถึงต้นทางเพิ่งสังเกตเห็นป้ายนี้ เค้าบอกว่าเมื่อคราวที่พายุเฮอริเคนฟรานมาถล่มที่นี่เมื่อวันที่ 6 กันยายน ปีค.ศ. 1996 ระดับน้ำในแม่น้ำแห่งนี้เอ่อล้นขึ้นมาถึงขอบด้านล่างของป้ายที่เห็นในรูป 😱

We clocked in at 3.91 miles, which took us an hour and 45 minutes. It was a nice and pleasant hike, with the temperature staying nice and cool in the mid 60s the entire way – perfect hiking weather!

วันนั้นเดินกันไป 3.91 ไมล์หรือประมาณ 6 กิโลกว่าๆ ใช้เวลาหนึ่งชั่วโมงกับ 45 นาทีพอดี อากาศกำลังสบายกำลังดีอยู่ที่ 17-18 องศาเซลเซียสตลอดทาง

Sunday Hike: Spring at Eno River

After a one-week hiatus, we started off our first hike in the Spring Hiking Series this Sunday at Eno River State Park. The parking lot was packed so full of cars. We were lucky to grab one of the last remaining legitimate spots! When we came back out, there were several cars parked on the dirt.

หลังจากที่หยุดพักไปหนึ่งอาทิตย์ เรากลับไปเดินป่ากันใหม่กับโปรแกรมเดินป่าฤดูใบไม้ผลิอาทิตย์นี้กันที่ Eno River State Park ไปถึงเจอที่จอดรถแน่นขนัด โชคดีเหลือที่ไว้ให้เราจอดเป็นคันสุดท้ายพอดี ตอนกลับออกมาเจอคนเบียดจอดกันตามไหล่ทางเต็มไปหมด

We met up with the group at Fews Ford Access to start off on the Buckquarter Creek trail then continue on to the Holden Mill trail.

เราไปเจอกับเพื่อนๆในกลุ่มที่ต้นทาง Fews Ford Access จากนั้นจึงเริ่มเดินกันตามเส้น Buckquarter Creek จากนั้นจึงต่อไปยังเส้น Holden Mill แล้ววนกลับมาจบที่เดิม

The weather couldn’t be any more perfect; no wonder everybody wanted to get out there to enjoy the outdoors! The trail offers plenty of views of the beautiful Eno River.

อากาศเย็นสบายกำลังดีไม่ร้อนไม่หนาว มิน่าต่างคนถึงพากันออกมาเดินสูดอากาศบริสุทธิ์กันเต็มป่า ทางสายนี้พาเราเดินชมวิวสวยๆเลียบริมแม่น้ำ Eno เกือบตลอดสาย

We also witnessed Spring casually greeting us in the form of colorful wildflowers and budding leaves on several trees along the way.

ดอกไม้ป่าเริ่มออกดอกกันบานสะพรั่ง ใบไม้ก็ไม่ยอมน้อยหน้าแข่งกันแตกยอดรับฤดูใบไม้ผลิกันทั่วหน้า

Somebody wasn’t going to be very happy at the end of this hike! 😆

We clocked in at 3.39 miles, which took us about an hour and a half to complete.
