Another great hike this weekend, this time at Durant Nature Preserve, a new-to-us location in North Raleigh, about a 30-minute drive from where we are. We started off from the south entrance at Campbell Lodge.
อาทิตย์นี้เราไปเดินป่ากันที่ Durant Nature Preserve ที่ทางตอนเหนือของเมือง Raleigh ที่นี่เพิ่งจะเคยมากันครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งแรก ทั้งๆที่อยู่ไม่ไกลจากบ้าน ขับรถไปแค่ประมาณครึ่งชั่วโมงเท่านั้น เราไปจอดรถกันไว้ที่ประตูทางเข้าด้านใต้ใกล้ๆกับ Campbell Lodge
From the parking lot, there is a short path leading to the start of Lakeside Trail. We took this counterclockwise, past the playground and picnic shelter, the boathouse, the fishing pier, and the campsite, for about half way through. This part has beautiful views of the lake most of the way, plus it is bicycle-free! Then, we turned onto Nature Trail.
จากที่จอดรถเดินไปนิดเดียวก็จะถึงจุดเริ่มต้นของเส้นทางเดินป่า Lakeside Trail เราเดินวนทวนเข็มนาฬิกา ผ่านสนามเด็กเล่น ที่จัดปิคนิค โรงเก็บเรือ ท่าเรือตกปลา และบริเวณตั้งแคมป์ ช่วงนี้มีวิวทะเลสาบสวยๆให้ชมเกือบตลอดทาง แถมห้ามจักรยานเข้ามาวิ่ง เลยไม่ต้องคอยระวังกัน เดินไปซักประมาณครึ่งทางจะมีแยกให้เลี้ยวเข้าไปที่เส้น Nature Trail
The short trail cut through the woods with beautiful fall colors. Then, it ran into White House Road, where we made a left turn, and continued on to Border Trail. Plenty of stuff to see in this section where red blazes guide your way, including Whale Rocks, Wildflower Woodland (of course, the wildflowers were long gone at this time of the year 😆), Vernal Pool (which was bone dry 🤣), and this cool little part where you got to hop across a small stream.
เส้น Nature Trail นี้พาเราตัดเข้าป่าไปดูวิวใบไม้ที่กำลังเริ่มผลัดสี จากนั้นเราเลี้ยวซ้ายต่อไปยังถนน White House ซึ่งมีหมุดปักบอกทางสีขาว และนำเราไปเชื่อมกับเส้น Border Trail ซึ่งเป็นอีกทางสายหลักของที่นี่ ช่วงนี้หมุดปักบอกทางเปลี่ยนเป็นสีแดง และตามทางมีจุดให้ชมวิวหลายแห่ง รวมทั้ง Whale Rocks (ก้อนหินปลาวาฬ) Wildflower Woodland (คือทุ่งดอกไม้ป่า แต่เสียดายหน้านี้ไม่มีดอกไม้ป่าเหลือให้ดูแล้ว 😆) และบ่อน้ำที่ชื่อ Vernal Pool (ชื่อตามป้ายที่ปักไว้ แต่ที่เห็นคือบ่อแห้ง ไม่มีน้ำ 🤣) ช่วงสุดท้ายตัดข้ามลำห้วยเล็กๆให้ได้ผจญภัยกันนิดๆ
We then switched over to another shortcut at Beaver Pond Trail, with black blaze, which took us back onto the southern part of Lakeside Trail to finish our loop.
จากเส้น Border Trail เราเลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าเส้น Beaver Pond Trail ช่วงนี้จะมีหมุดปักบอกทางเป็นสีดำ จากนั้นจึงตัดกลับมาที่ Lakeside Trail แล้ววนกลับมาจนครบรอบพอดี
We clocked in at 2.89 miles, which took us a little over an hour. It was a very pleasant hike, with diverse terrains, best enjoyed on a cool and sunny day. 🥰
วันนั้นเดินกันไป 2.89 หรือประมาณสี่กิโลครึ่งกว่าๆ ใช้เวลาชั่วโมงกับสิบสองนาที อากาศกำลังเย็นสบายไม่ร้อนไม่หนาว แดดดี ฟ้าใส ถ่ายรูปกำลังสวยพอดี 🥰
