Saturday Hike: Another Muddy MST at Falls Lake

This past Saturday, the weather was so nice it felt like such a crime not to go hiking! 😆 Since we have been noticing some Spring blooms starting to pop up during our weekday walks nearby, I thought it would be great to check out the trail at Eno River, where we had great luck with wildflower spotting before. It turned out a ton other people had exactly the same idea. 🙄 When we got to the parking lot there, it was at about 200% capacity! 😅 There were cars everywhere, many parked along the sides of the road because the official spots were all taken.

เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่แล้ว อากาศดีมาก แดดจ้า ฟ้าใส อุณหภูมิกำลังดี ไม่ร้อนไม่หนาว ทำให้เกิดอาการอยู่ไม่ติดบ้าน ต้องออกไปเดินป่ากันให้ได้ 😆 ช่วงอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมา ออกไปเดินออกกำลังใกล้ๆบ้าน ไปเห็นมาว่าดอกไม้แถวนี้เริ่มจะออกดอกกัน เลยตั้งใจว่าจะไปเดินที่ Eno River เพราะจำได้ว่ามีดอกไม้ป่าสวยๆให้ดูตามทาง ไปถึงปรากฎว่าชาวบ้านแถวนี้มีความคิดเดียวกับเรา 🙄 ลานจอดรถเต็มจนล้น รถจอดกันเลยออกมาข้างทางยาวเป็นกิโล 😅

We quickly turned around and headed over to another obscure spot we had been before. This Day Hike Section T of the Mountains-to-Sea trail at Falls Lake on Red Mill Road in north Durham was one of the least crowded trails we know of in the area. There was only one other car parked there when we arrived.

เลยต้องกลับรถออกมาหาที่เดินกันใหม่ เห็นจำนวนคนแล้วคิดว่าไปไหนก็คงแน่น สุดท้ายเลยตกลงไปลองที่เคยไปกันแล้วแน่ใจว่าไม่มีคน ช่วง T ของเส้นทางเดินป่า Mountains-to-Sea ที่ Falls Lake ซึ่งมีจุดเริ่มต้นอยู่ที่ถนน Red Mill ทางตอนเหนือของเมือง Durham แห่งนี้ เรามาเดินกันเมื่อปีที่แล้วตอนที่โควิดเริ่มระบาดได้ไม่นาน มาคราวนี้ยังปลอดคนเหมือนเดิม ไปถึงเจอรถจอดอยู่แค่คันเดียวเท่านั้น

The trail was straightforward, with distinct white blazes guiding us along the way. We enjoyed the nice quiet hike by ourselves without running into a single human being the entire way. The weather was perfect, nice and cool at 55 degrees and sunny. It was quite muddy in several spots, but nothing our trusty old boots couldn’t handle. 😆

ทางที่นี่ตรงไปตรงมาไม่คดเคี้ยว มีป้ายบอกทางจุดขาวให้เห็นตลอดทาง เดินยังไงก็ไม่หลง วิวก็ไม่มีอะไรหวือหวา เห็นทะเลสาบอยู่ไกลๆ แต่ดีตรงที่ว่าปลอดคน เดินไปจนกลับมาถึงรถไม่มีเพื่อนมนุษย์ปรากฎมาให้เห็นเลยซักราย อากาศเย็นสบายกำลังดี อุณหภูมิอยู่ที่ 55 องศาฟาเรนไฮต์ หรือประมาณ 13 องศาเซลเซียส ทางมีที่เฉอะแฉะอยู่บ้าง แต่รองเท้าบู๊ตเดินป่าคู่เก๋าของเรารับมือได้สบายมาก 😆
